🚀Starting the Discord

Starting a discord server is relatively easy.

You click a couple of buttons, make some channels and it’s done, at least for most.

But not for me.

My whole product is the server, the course within it and the mentorship, yes the channels were easy, but the course is where it got out of my expertise.

First you have the script, that’s the easy part, but then you have to shoot the videos and that’s when it got hard.

I’ve never recorded videos, so I had no experience going into it.

Honestly it’s a lot more than just standing there and pressing “record”.

First you’ve got to make a studio, then you’ve got to think of lighting. A big softbox is a must and in my case two small light sources for the background. Now you have to do light placement, shadows, light reflectors(buy some big Styrofoam pieces). It’s a nightmare.

That’s why I had to postpone the launch and now I am late again.

I haven’t even gotten to the editing part yet.

⛏Gathering Members

While dealing with all of this I decided, why waste time, why not gather the members before the launch.

The idea was great but execution nearly impossible, because of my restriction I do not have access to new audiences and the current one isn’t engaged. I posted a story but got just 30 members from it, so I started thinking of alternatives.

The first thing I though about was mass dm, I brushed it off at first, as it requires multiple accounts and it performs poorly, but then I realized:

I have an account, I have 30k followers, when I message them I go straight to the inbox, rather than requests, what do I have to lose?

So I did just that, wrote a message and started sending manually, 5 hours a day for 3 days.

It worked like a charm, people started pouring in, I got 0 restrictions and the account remained active.

I highly suggest resorting to this ONLY as a last resort. If you decide to do it, do it on an iPhone, Instagram is less suspicious to them compared to android devices.
